Allu + PCR Lab |
for In this lab we were learning about Allu and PCR. PCR stand for polymerase chemical reaction. what you do with the experiment is that you have to swish 1/2 small cup of saline (salt, water solution) in your mouth for 30 seconds. We did this because it extracted cheek cells from the inside of your mouth. We used a micro pipets as a syringe to take out part of the solution and put it into a tiny test tube. Then we put a solution in to the test tube. Finally we put all of our DNA in some capsules and put dye in it so we knew if we were (-,-) or(-,+)or(+,+)I
Reflection
Being the first project we did, it was pretty hard for me because I did not do it right the first time. I washed my mouth with saline but I forgot to put the solution into the centrifuge. I had to wash my mouth out with saline a second time. For the people that don't know what saline is, it's a solution of salt and water, it doesn't taste good at all. Other than that this project was great Because my group and I worked well together. I would not like to do it again because it was very salty.
